Double Boil Lamb with Dang Gui & Black Beans Soup


50g lamb fillet

30g black beans

6 dried longan

20g chinese Angelica/”Dang Gui”

350ml boiling water


1/2 tbsp Shaoxing wine

1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp light soy sauce


1. Wash and cut the lamb intpo pieces, then blanch into boiling water for a while. Remove and drain well.

2. Soak black beans into water over night. Dish up, drained.

3. Put the lamb pieces, black beans and the rest of ingredients into the double boiler. Pour in boiling water. Covered, double boil over a low heat for about 2 hrs. Remove from heat, add in seasoning, mix well. Serve hot.

  3. seefei : ermm… me is lousy cook. most of the recipes are from cookbooks.

    patrick : u oso know these are for women after confinements. i got cook them before and it’s very heaty. Mayb I can be lai ma. wakakaka

  4. I suggest if the lamb can change to duck, should be not that heaty. At my hometown, both guys and gals do drink these herbal soup sometimes too. My mum say it’s good for our body where can improve our “qi”. But when my mum cook it, she will used duck instead of chicken because she say duck is less heaty compared to chicken and as I know lamb is much heaty then chicken đŸ™‚
